What is Manjistha? Manjistha translates to vivid red in Sanskrit. Rubia cordifolia is the Latin name. Commonly known as Indian or madder root. This plant is related to the coffee family and thrives in the Himalayas and other mountainous regions.
While Manjistha is cultivated for its natural red pigment, it is highly medicial and has been used for centuries, both internally and topically. Externally, Manjistha has been shown to prevent acne-causing bacteria, reduce irritation from eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, and aid with hyperpigmentation.
